At the 13th Promotion Conference of Electronic Information Industry Standards, Ni Guangnan, an academician of the CAE Member, issued a theme report, believing that the HDD market is currently monopolized by foreign enterprises, and it is extremely difficult to seek a breakthrough in the HDD field. With the gradual improvement of the production capacity of domestically produced storage machines and flash drives in China, the time has come for SSD (Solid State Hard Disk) to replace HDD (Mechanical Hard Disk).

Ni Guangnan stated that in the upstream of the industrial chain, the lithography process for producing SSD master chips and DRAM in China's semiconductor storage is 12-28nm, and there is no need to use EUV lithography machines. Therefore, China can achieve independent control in the field of chips and equipment.

In the middle reaches of the industrial chain, the core capabilities and competitiveness of China's storage equipment are built on independent core storage chips, system architecture, and software, and have also reached the international leading technological level. At present, domestic storage brand manufacturers account for 85% of the domestic market and 20% of the global market share.

Note: Ni Guangnan is engaged in the research and development of computers and their applications. In 1989, he led the development of the Lenovo series of microcomputers; In 1994, he was selected as one of the first academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; In 1999, he was dismissed by Lenovo Group; From 2002 to 2011, served as the Chairman of the 5th and 6th Chinese Information Society; Received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chinese Information Society in 2011; In 2015, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chinese Computer Society.
